I made this one about a year ago and forgot to upload it. 'Tis the season for such ghostie things again I suppose.
Its not much like most of the stuff I am currently working on. There are about a million layers to this piece. Underneath all the paint there is an old charcoal drawing that I loved, but refused to frame (because of reasons. I had my reasons). I figured the best solution would be to tear it up and incorporate it into a painting. Then I covered that with a bunch of acrylic gel skins which trapped little air bubbles beneath them, adding depth and obstructing the original image. Its kind of a fun technique, but it is time consuming and I don't do a lot of it anymore. Plus it uses sooooo much acrylic gel. Then I painted on top of that and added another layer of paper collage. Then I sealed that layer with more gel medium and painted on top of it again.
Its really hard to get a good picture of this. You have to see it in person to be able to see the layers hidden in there. Oh well.

Such an interesting piece! The loose teeth remind me of children and innocence, which contrasts heavily with the dark and eerie background. I think the texture is a very nice touch and adds to the contrast of new/old and found/forgotten. I really love this!
